David worked for his father’s small construction company as a teenager. He graduated as a draftsman, which gave him a good working knowledge of design faults. He then spent 22 years as a photographer. When he started A.J. Furniture Refinishing in 1990 he applied the colour and touch up techniques used in photography towards touching up furniture pieces.
In 2011 he sold A.J. Furniture Refinishing to his son Eric, but remained as a regular fixture until 2015. Now he does the occasional pick up of supplies in order to assist Eric and Michael remain in the shop, when n at the summer trailer or travelling abroad.
